On this page is my prelim task which is a school/sixth form magazine, below are my flat plans for my front cover and contents page and also my completed front cover and contents page.

This is my front cover for my school/sixth form magazine:
The house style of my magazine is using only red, black and white by sticking to just three colours it makes my magazine look more professional. I used these colours as they can appeal to both sexes and all ages so it will not limit my target audience. Also black, red and white are St.Bedes colours so the magazine ties in with the rest of the school.
I also chose to use one main image on my front cover and used it as my background. When I took my photo I took it in natural light so that you can clearly see the models expression. I also chose to take my image so that it was in the middle of the page, I did this so that I had room to position my text around the image. I also photographed my model with her student landyard on to empathise to the readers that this is a magazine just for sixth form students.
I also included the date of the magazine and the issue number on the front page so that the readers are aware that this is a monthly magazine and they will also be able to keep up to date with how many issues they have.As it is a sixth form magazine I have made the magazine headlines quite informal and not too serious. This will encourage the students to read on as they won't think that they will be overloaded with information.
This is my contents page for my school/sixth form magazine:
On my contents page I chose to use only three colours again so that I stick to the same colour scheme as my front cover which will keep a consistent house style throughout the magazine. I have also included the school logo on the page to show that this magazine belongs to the school/sixth form.
I have included two images of students that would go to the sixth form on the page, this makes my magazine relatable as the students reading it will recognise the people/locations in the magazine. In my images I have used both males and females so that the readers do not feel the magazine is only suitable for one gender. I also included page numbers down the side of the images with the name of the article it will feature next to them. This will help the readers to find a particular article instead of flicking through the whole magazine.
After completing this prelim task I now have a better grasp of photoshop and of taking my own photographs, so that when I come to construct my music magazine I will have a clearer idea of what I'm going to do. I will have also learnt what works and what doesn't from this task so I know not to make the same mistakes again which will give me a better end result.
