Still image originals

These are my images I took for my magazines front cover, contents page and double page spread prior to them being edited on photoshop. I chose these photos because they were my favorite out of the ones that I had taken. It took me around an hour and a half to take all of my photos for my magazine and I took about twenty images to make sure I got ones I was 100% happy with and I thought would look good once they had been edited.

This is the image I intend to use on the front cover of my magazine. I chose to take this image outside so that I didn't have to use artificial lighting as the natural light gave me enough light to work with. When taking the photo I took it against a plain background so that when I added text on top it was still easy to read. I also took the image so that there is space down either side of the model to add in text on the page. When taking my photo I tried to follow my original flat plans by having my model posed up against a wall looking quite relaxed and natural. I also dressed my model in clothes which I thought would reflect the genre of my magazine well. This is so that as soon as the readers look at my magazine they can tell which genre it belongs to. I think during the editing process I will crop my image to only show the top half of her body and increase the contrast between light/shadow in the image.

This is an image I intend to use on my contents page. I took this photo indoors using artificial lighting. I am pleased with the way this image has came out as I like the light focused on her face and the dark shadow it has created behind her. I thought this was quite an interesting pose and different to any of the other images I have taken. I took my photo against a plain white wall so that it will be easy to edit and also allows the image to stand out. The leather jacket and red lipstick was also important at portraying my magazines rock genre. When I edit my photo I do not think I will have to do much apart from adding a bit more light/shadow and cropping out some of the background.

This is also an image I intend to use on my contents page. I used quite a lot of artificial lighting in this shot as I found the room to be quite dark and you couldn't really see the models facial expression clearly. The pose makes the model look quite serious which will intrigue the readers and make them want to read what he is all about. By taking the image against a plain wall it means I can easily crop out some of the background. The styling of this image also makes it quite different to the other images as it does not entirely portray the rock genre, I did this so that my magazines target audience is not so limited and  that more people can relate to my magazine. I also included the images of the two males on my contents page as before I took these images the majority of my images were of females which means that I was limited the market my magazine can appeal to.

This is the image I intend to use on my magazines double page spread. I took this image indoors using artificial lighting, I also took the image against a plain white wall so that my models stand out. I plan on using this image on the left hand side of my page and then the article on the right hand side. I wanted my models to look directly into the camera for this shot to capture the readers attention. I also styled my models using clothes I thought were typical of the rock genre such as leather jackets. This image will require no cropping as it is already a good close up shot. However, my image is quite dark so I will need to adjust the lighting to make the image brighter. I will also play around with the contrast to make the contrast between the black and white in the image even more noticeable.
